What are the latest trends for a dream outdoors?

In 2023, we celebrated our 35th year of operation, having started our business way back in 1988.

The Melbourne Brick team have helped hundreds of thousands of homeowner and trade customers since that time, helping them put their dreams into reality for their new homes or renovations.

We stock a wide range of products now, and whilst our name suggests we trade in bricks, this is only the beginning of a huge selection of products for indoor and outdoor builds and renovations.

We have pavers both man-made and natural, grass both synthetic and natural, landscaping accessories, retaining walls and many other products including the fantastic erosion control product – Geohex, and a wide range of sealers and cleaners.

From time to time, we share an article on the latest trends, so you can start planning how you want to use your space at home.

It seems that now more than ever, we love our outdoor spaces. Perhaps being forced into lockdown so much during the pandemic made us appreciate our own outdoor space even more.

What are the latest trends?

We’re glad you asked.

  1. Conversation Spots – Melbournians are falling in love with the idea of a spot to chat in the garden. Whether this includes a fire pit or not is your choice, but we can highly recommend creating seating in your conversation spot with a product like the Island Block Retaining Wall range. With recycled glass used in the manufacture of this green-certified product, your conversations won’t be the only thing that sparkles.
  2. Stone Pathways – this year, we’ve seen a surge in the demand for our handmade stepper range. Creating a meandering pathway through the backyard is becoming a popular and modern way of using paving in the garden or side path.
  3. Veggie Gardens – Melbournians have always been proud gardeners and another trend post-pandemic has been growing more of our food. Once again, you can use retaining walls and blocks to create a raised garden bed in which to plant your favourites. A raised and formal bed will save you from bending down to pick your bounty but also bring the garden up to a height where you can really enjoy watching things grow and the life that abounds around your plants as they grow.
  4. Synthetic Putting Greens – more and more people who love golf are bringing home putting and pitching green into their gardens. The new SNG Black Label is the best sand-filled putting green that money can buy, and with unmatched quality and playability, it is the choice of discerning golf lovers. And don’t worry, the rest of the family won’t miss out, as these greens are great multi-functional entertainment spots as well.
